I use the Icom IC-761 for most of my HF DX work. My ICOM IC-761 Stock power output is 10 to 100 watts (10 to 40 watts AM). Standard modes are SSB/CW/RTTY/AM /FM. The 761 has dual digital VFOs, all-mode squelch, Notch and Passband Tuning. A 20 db pre-amp and 20 dB attenuator. It uses three filters: the FL44 SSB 2.4 kHz, FL52A CW 500 Hz and FL32A CW 500 Hz (9 MHz IF), It also has the CR-64 high stability crystal oscillator. I really appreciate the built-in electronic keyer with full and semi break-in capability. The 761 also has a built in antenna tuner

My NRD-630 employs cutting-edge digital technologies for exceptional performance and superb ergonomics. The controls are designed for full-time, fatigue-free operation. The NRD-630 covers 90.000 to 29999.999 kHz with 1 Hz display in LSB, USB, AM, CW, and FSK (RTTY) modes. Supplied bandwidths include: 6, 3, 2.7, 1, 0.5 and 0.3 kHz. The built in 300 channel memory stores: frequency, mode, bandwidth, attenuator and AGC parameters. Scan and sweep are supported. Other refinements include: Passband Shift, NB, Lock, Keypad entry, built in speaker, S-Meter, Squelch, Dimmer and AGC selection. AGC positions include: Off/Slow/Fast/Data.

The IC-718 has 0.03-29.999999 MHz* general coverage receive capability. A 4-element system is employed for the 1st receive mixer, providing superior receive IMD, especially from in-band near-by interfering signals. A well-designed double-conversion system to help minimize image and spurious responses for better signal fidelity, is also built-in. A newly designed PLL circuit has been adopted to improve C/N ratio characteristics. The combination of the 4-element system mixer and new PLL circuit allows superior basic performance as that of a commercial grade transceiver. The ICOM IC-718 covers 160-10 meters. The receiver section features IF Shift, Adjustable Noise Blanker, RIT and formerly optional UT-106 DSP Automatic Notch/Noise Reduction. The transmit section features up to 100 watts of RF output and AF speech compression to increase average audio output. A CW keyer is built-in July 2000 QST reviews this radio.
